In the 40th match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, West Indies secured a comprehensive victory over Afghanistan, winning by a substantial margin of 104 runs. The Group C match took place at the Darren Sammy Cricket Stadium in Saint Lucia, where Afghanistan won the toss and opted to field first.
First Innings: Batting first, West Indies posted a formidable total of 218 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Nicholas Pooran was the star of the innings, scoring a blistering 98 runs off 53 balls, including 8 sixes and 6 fours, before being run out. Johnson Charles contributed 43 runs, Rovman Powell added 26, and Shai Hope made 25 runs. For Afghanistan, Gulbadin Naib took 2 wickets for 14 runs in his 2 overs, while Azmatullah Omarzai and Naveen-ul-Haq picked up one wicket each.
