In the 25th match of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, India secured their third consecutive victory in the tournament by defeating the USA by 7 wickets, thereby qualifying for the Super 8 stage.
India chased down the USA's target of 111 runs with ease, achieving it in the 19th over with 3 wickets down. Suryakumar Yadav remained unbeaten with a half-century, scoring 50 runs, while Shivam Dube contributed an unbeaten 31 runs.
In the Group A match held in New York, Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to field first, inviting the USA to bat.
USA's Innings
The USA managed to score 110 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Nitish Kumar was the top scorer with 27 runs, followed by Taylor with 24 runs. Corey Anderson and Harmeet Singh contributed 15 and 10 runs respectively.
For India, Arshdeep Singh delivered an impressive bowling performance, taking 4 wickets for just 9 runs. Hardik Pandya took 2 wickets, and Axar Patel claimed 1 wicket.
India's Innings
Chasing a target of 111 runs, India did not start well. Virat Kohli was dismissed for a duck, and captain Rohit Sharma managed to score only 3 runs before getting out. Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant added 18 runs off 20 balls before being dismissed.
After losing 3 wickets, Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube steadied the innings with responsible batting, gradually moving the score forward. India comfortably reached the target in the 19th over. Suryakumar Yadav scored an unbeaten 50, and Shivam Dube remained not out with 31 runs.
For the USA, Saurabh Netravalkar took 2 wickets, while Ali Khan took 1 wicket.
With this victory, India advanced to the Super 8 stage of the tournament, maintaining an unbeaten record in the group stage.
